Black tsunamis and naked singularities in AdS

A bstract We study the evolution of Gregory-Laflamme instability for black strings in global AdS spacetime, and investigate CFT dual formation a bulk naked singularity. Using an effective theory large D limit, we uncover rich variety dynamical behaviour, depending on thickness string initial perturbations. These include: inflows horizon generators from asymptotic boundary (a ‘black tsunami’); pinch-off that likely reveals singularity; competition between these two behaviours, such as nakedly singular subsequently gets covered by tsunami.
